Next American Idol is David Cook?

May 16, 2008 · Filed Under Entertainment · 2 Comments

A lot have been said on how good Cook’s performances are, how ‘original’ (as what the judges say) his songs are and how he could be the next American Idol. Question is…will he be the next idol?

David CookI was not really an American Idol fan…well not until this season, Ramiel Malubay, a Filipina made it to the top 24 list..even to the final 12! After she was voted out, I felt there was no use watching it. The show was only worth watching for me because I was following a “kababayan’s” dream come true. Then I stumbled upon one of David Cook’s video in ‘You tube’ performing a Mariah Carey song (Always Be My Baby) which sparked my interest in watching the show again. This time, following Cook’s performance.

American Idol logoLooks like he has the chance. Last time, Syesha Mercado was voted off. That leaves the title to the two ‘Davids’ – Archuleta and Cook on next week’s showdown. I’m betting on Cook although the young David may get more votes considering that he has a huge number of fans (browse the net! teenage peeps especially the girls definitely votes for him!).

Here’s how I see the two Davids:

D.A. has a very pleasant voice, good-looking and seems to be a very nice lad but I feel that all throughout the season he has sang with the same tone of voice and no variation at all. There were times when I find his performances a bit of a bore. Most of his songs were slow and sad. One time he performed a lively song but his tone didn’t change at all.

D.C. on the other hand has a good and powerful voice. The guy is versatile and can sing different song genres as shown on his performances with Mariah Carey’s and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s song. Not to mention that he arranges the songs he performs. He’s equally good-looking compared to Archuleta but definitely has more edge when it comes to stage performance.

Well, it’s time to vote for the next American Idol!

The OpenDNS Solution

Your internet connection sucked ?! Don’t get stuck, go for OpenDNS !

What is DNS ?

  • DNS - stands for Domain Name System, a service or a system that translates hostnames to IP addresses. (ex. www.google.com translates to 208.67.216.230)

DNS can be compared to a phonebook. When you like to call your local dairy man Matt, you have to locate his number. DNS works the same way by looking up a machine’s IP address using the machine name.

Aside from spywares and adwares, DNS server congestion is often the cause of slow website loading time. Browsing problems occur when Internet Service Provider (ISP) DNS server does not resolve the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) addresses. And all you have in your screen is a vague information why you can’t go to your favorite sites. Also, DNS servers located several hops away could cause unnerving and teeth-grinding website loading time.

Why the need for OpenDNS ?

  • Faster web browsing because of reliable network
  • Safer browsing because of :
    • Content Filtering
    • Adult Site Blocking
    • Domain Blocking
    • Domain Whitelist - lets you list domains that will never be blocked regardless of any filtering categories you have turned on in the opendns panel.

  • Customization
  • Statistics - provides graphical information about your networks’ activities.
