Disclosure Policy Generator

May 10, 2008 | Filed Under Blogging Tools | Comment

I found a really useful tool for bloggers : a disclosure policy generator.

http://www.disclosurepolicy.org badge
Disclosurepolicy.org offers a generator for a disclosure policy that can be used freely in your own blogsite. This generator provides a 6-step process in producing a disclosure policy.
You will be presented with 5 questions and you have to choose an option that best describes your blog. The generator would ask you questions about:

  1. Type of Blog - the kind of blog that you have
  2. Compensation - if your site accepts compensation or not
  3. Advertising and Content - whether you blog is influenced by advertising and etc.
  4. Compensation - If your blog’s opinion is influenced by compensation
  5. Conflicts of Interest - whether your blog is influenced by any affiliations
  6. Policy - this is the part where you can view the generated disclosure policy

After you have answered the 5th question, you can view the generated Policy Disclosure by clicking “Finish” button. All you have to do is copy the generated disclosure to your blog and you’re good to go. How you present that disclosure in your blogsite is up to you. You can make it as one of your site’s primary link (like what I did here in my blog.. see the Disclosure Policy at the top of the page) or you can make it as a text link in your website’s footer as suggested by Disclosurepolicy.org .

Disclosurepolicy.org also offers “badges” (image) that you can use to link back to their website. Two of the “badges” are shown here.

The generated disclosure policy can also be modified. According to Disclosurepolicy.org :

“This generator is designed to provide you with a structure for creating a disclosure policy. Feel free to add, modify and delete text to serve your own purposes.”

Great stuff !
